Preview

Several of the weekend’s final World Cup qualifying games pit the two teams at the top of their group against each other and that is the case when Sweden travel to Spain.

This is a third meeting for these sides in five months and the familiar foes look set for an intriguing encounter which will decide who progresses to the World Cup automatically and who gets a playoffs berth instead.

The Swedes had the upper hand before a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Georgia on Thursday, meaning that the Scandinavians must take all three points in Seville to top the group.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic turned out for the side 20 years after making his debut, but a striker nearly half his age could be key against Spain.

Alexander Isak plays his club football for Real Sociedad and has scored five goals in all competitions for the Basque side this season. He also netted in Sweden’s 2-1 win in the reverse fixture and is taken to get on the scoresheet once again.

Another group that remains in the balance with its two key protagonists set to face off in the final match is Group A, where Portugal have the upper hand on Serbia on goal difference.

The Iberian side were held to a goalless draw with Ireland on Thursday and will be without defensive stalwart Pepe after he was sent off.

Both teams have scored 16 times in seven qualifying outings and Serbia have a wealth of attacking options, including Dusan Tadic, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dusan Vlahovic and should test the Portuguese backline.

The return leg between the pair finished 2-2 and both teams are fancied to score again on this occasion.
