Zinedine Zidane's managerial qualities do not convince everyone but he won the Champions League in his debut season and has guided Real Madrid to a healthy advantage in La Liga this term.

Madrid, three points clear of Barcelona and with a game in hand due to their Club World Cup success, have gone 37 matches unbeaten in all competitions and are odds-on to secure their first domestic title since 2012.

Real have already played away at Atletico and Barca and managed to fight an injury crisis which has robbed Zidane of key men Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos for chunks of the campaign.

They fully deserve to be considered favourites to take the title from a Barcelona side who have been far less consistent.

That could change now Andres Iniesta has returned from injury but it may well be too late.

Atletico have been nowhere near the standards set in recent campaigns and could face a scrap from Seville, Villarreal and even Real Sociedad for a Champions League qualification spot.

Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi lead the goal charts on 12 each with. Cristiano Ronaldo two back. Messi is 5-4 to top-score with Suarez 13-8 and Ronaldo 2-1.
