Political unrest main threat to Spain chances
Manager Julen Lopetegui
The political crisis in Spain has not yet had any negative impact on the national team but it is probably the greatest concern for anyone backing them.
Catalan Gerard Pique has already been caught up in off-field events and these things tend to manifest themselves during lengthy periods on the road, such as being stuck in a camp in Russia for several weeks.
If coach Julen Lopetegui manages to bring equilibrium to the squad then Spain have the quality to go deep, as they showed with a 3-0 dismantling of Italy during a serene qualification process.
The hunger is back in La Roja's squad and a team who can boast David de Gea, Dani Carvajal, Pique, Sergio Ramos, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, David Silva, Isco, Thiago, Andres Iniesta and Alvaro Morata will be as good as anything in Russia.
