Match preview

World Cup outright favourites Brazil began their campaign with a 2-0 win over Serbia in Lusail on Thursday but it was a solid rather than spectacular showing from the Selecao, who can record another low-scoring win over Switzerland.

Unlike a couple of other heavyweights, Brazil handled the weight of expectation well in their opener but had to work for it against the Serbians, failing to break the deadlock until a predatory poke at goal from Richarlison in the 62nd minute.

Richarlison doubled their advantage with a delectable volley just over ten minutes later but Brazil suffered a setback when talisman Neymar was forced off late on with an ankle injury, which rules him out of the rest of the group stage.

Given Brazil's wealth of attacking riches, Neymar's absence should not be too problematic for now and means Tite will rotate for the clash with the Swiss.

Goals have been at a premium in this World Cup so far and punters should not expect a barnstorming Brazilian performance against Switzerland, who are arguably more resolute at the back than Serbia.

Murat Yakin is managing Switzerland for the first time at a World Cup but opened with a 1-0 win over Cameroon thanks to Breel Embolo's second-half strike.

They began this tournament fresh from three successive wins in the Nations League against Portugal, Spain and Czech Republic and can relax in the knowledge they already have three points under their belts heading into their toughest game.

At the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Switzerland also got out of a group featuring Brazil and held the Selecao to a 1-1 draw in their opening group encounter.

Yakin was not in charge then but the team had a similar look to it and that should also be a source of inspiration for this contest, although Brazil's attacking options are much better now and they can dig deep for victory.

A lot of credit goes to Brazil's offensive talents but at the back they held firm against Serbia, denying their opponents a single shot on target, and they conceded only five times in 17 matches during the World Cup qualifiers.

Right-back Danilo is also set to miss this game but Real Madrid star Eder Militao is an able deputy in that position and Brazil can make it six points from a possible six in Group G.

Brazil v Switzerland Bet Builder

Brazil to win
Brazil dug deep to beat Serbia 2-0 last time out and their superior attacking options give them the edge in this one.

Granit Xhaka over 0.5 shots
Granit Xhaka has got further forward for Arsenal a number of times this season and is worth chancing to have a crack at goal for the Swiss.

Vinicius Junior to score
In Neymar's absence, star winger Vinicius Junior will need to step up to the plate and could score after managing four shots in his team's opener.
