Sweden v USA

BBC4, 8pm Thursday

Sweden and the USA have confirmed the view that Group F would be the easiest group from which to qualify for the knockout stage and the Americans have probably been the most impressive team in the tournament.

The Swedes saw off Thailand 5-1 but they did not have to get out of second gear and this assignment could not be more different.

The Americans took the opportunity to rest some of their key players against Chile on Sunday and the prospect of Alex Morgan coming into the game fresh after her five goals in the 13-0 win over Thailand should be a daunting one for Sweden.

The group winners face the prospect of playing hosts France in the quarter-final but that won't worry the holders, who will fancy their chances against anybody.

Morgan can score the first goal in a game where the USA are looking for revenge, having been knocked out of the Rio Olympics by the Swedes.

Recommendation
A Morgan first goalscorer

Key stat
The USA have lost one of their last 40 matches

Thailand v Chile

BBC red button, 8pm Thursday

Chile are without a win in their last 11 games but they should have few problems against Thailand, who have looked out of their depth at this tournament.

The South Americans had a fine performance from goalkeeper Claudia Endler to thank for keeping the score down to 3-0 against the USA on Sunday but a clash with these Asian opponents should be a lot more straightforward.

Thailand found the net in the closing stages of their 5-1 defeat to Sweden on Sunday but they may not have enough to find their way past the PSG custodian.

Recommendation
Chile to win to nil

Key stat
Thailand have conceded at least twice in 14 of their last 15 matches

Holland v Canada

BBC red button, 5pm Thursday

Holland and Canada have made straightforward progress in Group E and it will be interesting to see if players are rested with the knockout stage in mind.

Both teams went into the tournament in excellent form and the Canadians know they need to keep a close eye on Arsenal striker Vivianne Miedema, who scored twice in Holland's 3-1 win over Cameroon.

Holland have won 14 of their last 18 matches but the Canadians are a tough team to break down and look to be growing into the tournament.

They have conceded just once in their last nine games and while the Dutch possess a strong forward line, these two could end up cancelling each other out.

Recommendation

Key stat
Both teams have scored in just one of Canada's last 12 games

Cameroon v New Zealand

BBC red button, 5pm Thursday

Cameroon and New Zealand both need to win this match to have any chance of making the last 16 of the Women's World Cup and the Football Ferns look better equipped to grab three points.

They were unable to make much headway against a tight Canadian defence in their last game but may have more joy against Cameroon, who were frequently exposed in their 3-1 defeat to Holland.

New Zealand have never won a match in the finals but they put up some decent friendly performances in beating England and Norway this year and that experience could just tip the balance in their favour.

Recommendation
New Zealand
2pts 11-8 bet365

Key stat
Both teams have scored in just two of New Zealand's last 21 matches
