USA v Chile

BBC2, 5pm

Chile have failed to win any of their last ten matches and the last team they will want to face are the USA, who thumped Thailand 13-0 in their World Cup opener.

The South Americans showed little resistance in their 2-0 defeat to Sweden and they must be fearing the worst two months after they let in seven against Holland in a friendly.

The USA are favourites to retain their title and while Alex Morgan helped herself to five goals in their emphatic win, six other players also got on the scoresheet so the first-goalscorer market is a minefield.

It could be worth taking a chance on an own goal being scored in the game - there were four in the first 18 games of the tournament.

Chile will have their backs against the wall and it only takes an extended leg to divert a cross in for the 11-2 shot to cop.

Own goal to be scored

Sweden v Thailand

BBC red button, 2pm

Thailand were handed a real schooling by the USA in their 13-0 defeat on Monday and the scale of that loss is likely to have had a devastating effect.

They were completely overrun by the tournament favourites and their priority in their second Group F match against Sweden will be to ensure they don't suffer another embarrassment.

Sweden had an excellent start with a 2-0 win over Chile but they are not a team who tend to score a bevy of goals.

The floodgates may open eventually and it is worth remembering that ten of the American goals arrived after the interval.

All the goals in France's recent 3-0 win over Thailand came after the hour mark so there could be more goals after the break than before.

Recommendation
Second half to be higher-scoring

Sweden have scored more than twice in just two of their last 14 matches
