Seven of the eight Women's World Cup quarter-finalists are European nations but the other team - the United States - are the 13-8 favourites to lift the trophy.

To progress to the last four, though, they need to defeat tournament hosts and second-favourites France in Paris.

The French, mainly comprised of Lyon players fresh from winning a fourth successive Champions League title, have won all four of their matches against South Korea, Norway, Nigeria and Brazil.

It is worth noting, however, that three of those wins were by one-goal margins and they required extra-time to see off Brazil, who had a golden opportunity to win in the additional 30 minutes.

France have progressed beyond the quarter-finals of a World Cup only once and it would be no surprise to see them buckle under pressure against the world's top-ranked side.

The USA's formidable front line of Megan Rapinoe, Tobin Heath and five-goal Alex Morgan were all part of the side who won the 2015 World Cup, while the tournament's top scorer Carli Lloyd is an excellent option off the bench.

They have had a sensational 92 shots in their four games at this World Cup and a team of their quality and experience are worth backing at seldom-seen odds-against quotes.

Recommendation
USA
1pt 13-10 general

Key stat
The USA have lost only one of their last 42 matches in all competitions.
