Luton Town's continuation of their dazzling Sky Bet League One form since the departure of Nathan Jones has seen club legend Mick Harford appointed manager until the end of the season.

The Hatters have won five and drawn one of their six league games since their managerial switch and are unbeaten in a staggering 19 matches in the division.

They are starting to pull away from Barnsley and Portsmouth at the top of the third tier and can issue a serious statement of intent against Fleetwood.

Joey Barton's team have enjoyed three wins to nil in their last four matches, but those games were against a Charlton side without Lyle Taylor and Huddersfield-bound Karlan Grant and two relegation contenders in Bradford and Wimbledon.

This is still the same Cod Army group who lost 3-2 to the Wombles in the FA Cup and shipped five in a capitulation to Portsmouth at the end of last year.

Luton will be the fiercest attack they have faced this campaign and James Collins, who leads the League One scoring charts with 19 goals, is a player they will be keeping a close eye on.

Central to Luton's ascent to the league summit has been their ability to start matches strongly and selling the time of their first goal at 50 minutes with Sporting Index could be a prosperous move.

Within that remarkable run of results, Harford's men have notched first-half goals in each of their last five outings and only Fleetwood and Barnsley (both 26) have scored more goals in the opening period than Luton (23).
