Southampton v Manchester United

Three of the last five meetings between these sides have ended in draws, with the other two settled by single-goal margins. They could be tough to separate after Southampton recorded successive wins to nil in the Premier League and EFL Cup.

Crystal Palace v Aston Villa

Both teams scored in only seven of Crystal Palace’s 19 home league matches last term and punters should expect a low-scoring affair when the Eagles host Dean Smith’s men. Palace could not breach League Two Colchester in the EFL Cup and Villa should not expect an expansive game.

Chelsea v Sheffield United

Chelsea got off the mark with victory over Norwich but their match with another promoted side could be tighter. Only Liverpool kept more home clean sheets than the Blues last season and they can grind out a narrow win.

Newcastle v Watford

Newcastle inflicted a shock defeat on Tottenham last time out but had only 19 per cent possession and were carved apart when they tried to play expansively against Norwich. Watford have the attacking prowess to record a win and make amends for their poor start.

Manchester City v Brighton

Fast-starters Manchester City scored 49 first-half goals last term and can put Brighton to the sword after thumping West Ham 5-0 on the opening weekend and mustering 30 shots in a draw with Tottenham which should have been a win.

West Ham v Norwich

West Ham have notched six goals in three matches while Norwich have scored in 30 consecutive league games and a high-scoring affair should unfold in the capital. Sebastien Haller opened his account against Watford and Teemu Pukki has adjusted quickly to Premier League life.

Leicester v Bournemouth

Leicester have beaten Sheffield United after taking good points off Wolves and Chelsea and should have too much for Bournemouth, who were outplayed in their away win over Aston Villa. They lost the shot count 22-12 and saw only 37 per cent of the ball.

Burnley v Liverpool

Burnley are worth backing to earn a positive result against Liverpool, who have looked unconvincing in their two matches away from Anfield against Chelsea in the Super Cup and Southampton in the league. The Clarets failed to score in only three home league games last term.

Everton v Wolves

Wolves have been in great goalscoring form, putting three past Torino in the first leg of their Europa League tie, and can contribute to a lively match with Everton, who have had 34 shots in their opening three Premier League games.

Arsenal v Tottenham

Arsenal won three and drew one of their five home games against top-six opposition last season and they can claim a derby success against an unsettled Spurs team who lost to Newcastle last time out.
