Best Premier League bet

Burnley v Brentford 3pm Saturday

Brentford's last two Premier League results were narrow home defeats to Chelsea and Leicester but the promoted Bees have a great chance to return to winning ways against Burnley at Turf Moor.

Thomas Frank's men have been excellent on the road this season, drawing at Crystal Palace and Aston Villa before wins at Wolves and in-form West Ham, and they booked their place in the EFL Cup quarter-finals with a 2-1 victory at Stoke on Wednesday.

Burnley's xG data suggests they have been unfortunate to pick up only four points from their first nine games of the season but the underlying stats tell a similar story for Brentford, who are eight points better off in the table.

The Clarets missed a great opportunity for a first win of the campaign when they were held to a goalless draw by Norwich in their most recent home fixture and, having scored only twice in four games at Turf Moor, they are worth opposing this weekend.

Best EFL bet

Rotherham v Sunderland 3pm Saturday

Sunderland are the only team outside the Premier League in the EFL Cup quarter-final draw after Tuesday's penalty-shootout win at QPR but their primary objective this season is winning promotion from League One.

Black Cats manager Lee Johnson admitted that his side were "physically damaged" by their efforts at QPR and that could leave them vulnerable at rampant Rotherham.

The Millers' odds may look a little skinny on paper given that Sunderland are one point ahead of them with a game in hand but Paul Warne's men have been in blistering form recently.

Their last five league games have included 3-0 wins over AFC Wimbledon and MK Dons, a 4-1 home victory against Portsmouth and a 2-0 success at Cheltenham, where they had ten shots on target to their hosts' one.

Tuesday's 5-0 home win over Manchester City's Under-21 side in the EFL Trophy further enhanced the mood in the camp and Sunderland, who lost 4-0 at Portsmouth on October 2 and 1-0 at home to Charlton last weekend, may struggle to halt Rotherham's charge.

Best European bet

Inter v Udinese BT Sport 1, 11.30am Sunday

Serie A champions Inter have made a solid start to their title defence although Wednesday's 2-0 win at ten-man Empoli featured only their second clean sheet of the season in the league.

Both teams had scored in their previous eight Serie A games and Simone Inzaghi's men may need to maintain their impressive attacking record if they are to take maximum points against Udinese on Sunday morning.

Inter have scored 26 goals in their first ten league matches under Inzaghi – three more than neighbours Milan, who have won nine of their ten games this term – and their adventurous brand of football was epitomised by their first goal at Empoli.

Defender Danilo D'Ambrosio charged into the Empoli box to get on the end of a cute pass from Alexis Sanchez but Inter are far from solid at the back.

The champions should be too strong for Udinese but the visitors have had five score draws in ten Serie A games this term, including a 2-2 with Juventus, 3-3 at Sampdoria and 1-1 at Atalanta on their last away trip, and they can land a blow at San Siro.

Weekend accumulators

Banker
Bournemouth
The unbeaten Cherries are favourites to win the Championship and should rack up another three points at Reading, who blew a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 at home to Blackpool before last weekend's 2-0 defeat at Blackburn.

Blowout
Leeds
Tuesday's 2-0 EFL Cup defeat at Arsenal means Leeds have scored only five goals in their last nine games and they are no certainties at bottom club Norwich, who held Burnley and Brighton to 0-0 draws before their rout at Chelsea.

Accumulator
Harrogate 5-6, Leyton Orient 19-20, Fiorentina 8-15, Sassuolo 4-5. £1 accumulator returns £9.83 with Hills.
