Confident Hoops ready to punish weary rivals Reading in Loftus Road clash
Middlesbrough may take time to hit top stride
Sky Bet Championship
Saturday 3pm
Steve McClaren’s renaissance at QPR shows no sign of slowing down and the Hoops should be backed for another comprehensive home win against Reading in the Sky Bet Championship.
The Loftus Road hosts brushed aside Ipswich 3-0 on Wednesday and they have scored 14 goals in their last six matches on their own patch so a buy of their goals at 1.95 with Sporting Index could pay off.
Striker Nahki Wells has scored five times in his last nine games while QPR have goal threats in midfield and should be too sharp for a Reading side getting used to new manager Jose Gomes.
The Royals had to play for 81 minutes with ten men in Gomes’s first game in charge at Millwall on Wednesday and any hangover from that defeat may well be punished by the Hoops.
Middlesbrough and Ipswich fans haven’t had much to cheer over Christmas and Boro may struggle to light up the Riverside, even against the bottom club in the Championship.
Tony Pulis’s side haven’t scored more than three times in a game since the second week of the season – a 3-0 home win over Sheffield United – and they were beaten 1-0 at home to struggling Sheffield Wednesday last time out.
Ipswich are a poor side but they showed glimpses of improvement with a recent home win over Wigan and a 1-1 draw with the highflying Blades. With the right tactics and mentality, they could frustrate a Boro side lacking creativity.
