Since winning Der Klassiker at the start of December, Bayern Munich have pulled nine points clear of Borussia Dortmund in the race for the Bundesliga title.

They are 1-100 in places to finish top of the pile for the tenth season in a row and there is also little value in the betting without Bayern, with Dortmund clear favourites to finish best of the rest.

And while Hoffenheim are a tempting bet at 5-2 at the halfway stage to finish the campaign in the Champions League spots, the better outright bet could be to back Bochum to be relegated.

Thomas Reis's men started the season with five defeats from their first seven matches and, although they have stabilised a little to move up to 12th, they are by no means clear of danger.

They finished the year with defeats to Arminia Bielefeld and Union Berlin and are among the weakest teams defensively with their expected-goals-against figure of 31.83 nearly six greater than their actual tally.

Greuther Furth are all but relegated but Bochum could still fall into either of the other two spots and, given the strength of the Bundesliga 2 this season, finishing 16th will result in a tough relegation playoff encounter.

Stuttgart have shown signs of promise with recent wins over Wolfsburg and Mainz, while other relegation candidates Augsburg could be in for a tremendous boost in January should they sign wonderkid Alan Velasco.

At the prices, Bochum are the value bet to be relegated this season.
