Weekend preview
Partick Thistle are under new management and can finally start living up to their potential when they welcome struggling Queen of the South to Firhill.
The return of prodigal son Ian McCall to his Maryhill roots looks a masterstroke from the Glasgow club. They persuaded McCall to quit high-flying Ayr United, where he had worked miracles, and take charge of the Jags for a second spell.
It didn't take him long to weave his magic with a superb coupon-busting win at Inverness last week.
His homecoming could barely be against more welcoming visitors. The Dumfries club are poor on the road, having scored just twice in their last ten away league games.
Thistle have a squad who should be challenging for promotion and they will be right up for putting on a show for McCall in his first home game.
At the start of the season, Dundee would have expected to have gone off at around 1-3 at home to Arbroath given the gap in resources between the clubs so it's a sign of both teams' early displays that they can be backed at 4-5.
The hosts should have too much quality in their squad not to come good eventually and this could be the day.
Dundee manager James McPake is under pressure after a dismal start to the season but a team including Kane Hemmings, Graham Dorrans, Josh McPake and Andrew Nelson surely can't struggle for too long.
Arbroath have been punching above their weight this season and wily old manager Dick Campbell deserves a lot of credit.
But they got turned over by Ayr last week and suffered an agonising defeat at Dundee United in their previous outing which could have knocked the stuffing out of them.
Stirling Albion can win the Ladbrokes League Two basement battle against Brechin City at Glebe Park.
The Binos are also underachieving this season given that they have players such as Dylan Bikey and Darryl Duffy who could arguably be playing at a higher level.
They are at least unbeaten in their last three so the tide could be turning and they can go above a Brechin side in danger of their third relegation in a row.
