Team news

Rangers
Tom Lawrence, John Souttar, Filip Helander, Ianis Hagi, Steven Davis and Ridvan Yilmaz are all sidleined.

Celtic
Right-back Josip Juranovic should make his first appearance since the World Cup and Reo Hatate is likely to recalled to the midfield.

Match preview

Rangers are a perfect four wins from four matches under new boss Michael Beale but that 100 per cent start to Beale's reign is likely to meet an abrupt end in Monday's Old Firm derby.

When the betting for this match opened, Celtic were chalked up as 7-4 shots to win at Ibrox which looked a late Christmas gift. The Bhoys have since contracted to 13-10 but that could still underrate their chance of victory.

Put simply, Celtic are the superior outfit in all departments right now. The Bhoys have won 18 of their 19 Scottish Premiership fixtures, boast a plus-46 goal difference and hammered Rangers 4-0 at Parkhead in September.

It will be Rangers who have a vociferous home crowd roaring them on this time, but the Light Blues don’t appear to have too much else going for them.

Two of Rangers' best players, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey, departed in the summer and former boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who led the Ibrox side to last season's Europa League final, paid the price for a poor start to the season.

Summer signings John Souttar, Tom Lawrence and Ridvan Yilmaz are injured, Rabbi Matondo and Ben Davies have offered little since arriving at Ibrox and Malik Tillman has scored only five goals in 27 appearances. Ryan Jack and John Lundstram have been way off the pace in midfield, too, which has exacerbated the Light Blues' shortage of options in that area.

The same can't be said of Celtic with boss Ange Postecoglou boasting a wealth of riches.

Aussie schemer Aaron Mooy starred for the Bhoys in their 4-0 victory over Hibs on Wednesday, Callum McGregor continues to boss the midfield and their attack is full of thrust and a cutting edge.

Celtic are already nine points ahead of Rangers in the title race and they can consolidate their commanding position further with victory at Ibrox.

Key stat

Celtic have lost just one of the last five Old Firm derbies.
