Match preview

Nuno was the Premier League manager of the month for June but the famous curse has struck the Wolves boss as he prepares his side to face Everton after two defeats.

The Molineux outfit's top-four dreams have been crushed by losses to Arsenal and Sheffield United, which have left them facing a fight to secure Europa League qualification.

However, those losses were harsh on Nuno's men, who struggled to turn their superior possession into chances, a familiar problem for Wolves, particularly in the first half of matches.

Wolves have been ahead at the break only five times in 34 matches and they could find it tough to break down an unspectacular but resolute Everton side.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men also had hopes of European qualification when the season resumed but that could prove a tall order and they are some way off the pace.

Everton’s form away from Merseyside could be the reason why they miss out on Europe. They have collected only 15 points on their travels, while goals have also been hard to come by and they have drawn blanks in three of their last six road matches.

However, this is a fixture that tends to produce goals - the last three meetings have seen over 2.5 goals - and backing a half-time draw is preferred with Everton having gone in level at the break in 17 of their 34 league matches this season.

Key stat

Wolves have failed to score in the first half 25 times in 34 games this season
