Match preview

Everton have gone from one extreme to another in the Premier League this season.

The Toffees started the campaign with four successive wins but then claimed only one victory in seven contests before finding form once again to beat Chelsea, Leicester, Arsenal and Sheffield United in the space of a fortnight.

Now, following a 1-0 loss to West Ham and an underwhelming performance against Rotherham in the FA Cup, they could be fading once again.

Despite having James Rodriguez and Lucas Digne back in their starting 11 for the cup clash, Everton were sloppy in possession and sluggish in the final third against the Championship side, who took them to extra-time at Goodison Park.

Abdoulaye Doucoure saved their blushes with a decisive strike early in the additional 30 minutes but, as assistant boss Duncan Ferguson said after the game, it was a feeling of relief rather than celebration at the full-time whistle.

A failure to create clear goalscoring opportunities was also apparent in the 1-0 loss to West Ham, in which Everton managed only two shots on target, and punters should be wary of backing Carlo Ancelotti's men against Wolves.

Nuno's men have also been difficult to pin down and rumours linking them to Diego Costa in this transfer window emphasise their lack of attacking quality in the absence of Raul Jimenez.

They have scored more than one goal in only two of their last eight games in all competitions and they have not been much better at the other end with only one clean sheet in their last six Premier League matches at Molineux.

But having beaten Arsenal and Chelsea and held Tottenham to a stalemate recently, Wolves have shown they can up their performances against the bigger clubs and backing a draw may be the best way to play it when they host Everton.

That does not mean punters should anticipate a low-scoring affair as the last four meetings between the sides have produced 16 goals.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin ruled out and Richarlison an injury doubt, maestro Rodriguez looks a smart selection in the first-goalscorer market.

The Colombian managed two shots and laid on an assist against Rotherham and has been an instrumental figure for Everton this season.

With three goals and three assists to his name in the Premier League this term, he looks a great each-way bet to break the deadlock.
