Match preview
West Ham have found clashes with Brighton as tough as the rock that bears the name of the seaside town, but they can finally crack the Seagulls conundrum to reinvigorate their top-four challenge.
The Hammers took encouragement from Sunday’s loss to Manchester City and will look to put that to good use by snapping an eight-game winless run against Brighton.
West Ham’s record at the London Stadium offers more reasons to believe in the hosts, who have beaten Tottenham and Liverpool in their last two home league games, while they have scored at least once in seven out of eight matches on their patch.
One goal could be enough to beat a Brighton side who haven’t netted in three straight games and are struggling to create chances, slipping into the Premier League’s bottom six for expected goals.
The Seagulls were surprisingly booed off after Saturday’s goalless draw with Leeds extended their winless run to eight matches and memories of their good start to the season could become even more distant after they’ve faced the Hammers.

Brighton have won one of their 12 Premier League matches played on a Wednesday night.
