Team news
Watford
Cucho Hernandez picked up a hamstring injury against Leeds and misses out here. William Troost-Ekong, Samuel Kalu, Francisco Sierralta, Nicolas Nkoulou and Kwadwo Baah are also unlikely to feature.
Brentford
Pontus Jansson missed the West Ham game through illness but looks likely to return, along with Josh Dasilva, while Frank Onyeka is out.
Match preview
Watford’s 3-0 defeat to Leeds last weekend means they have now lost 21 games in the Premier League this season, the most of any side.
Twelve of those defeats have come at home, where the Hornets have taken just seven points from 30 available. The wait to add to that tally could go on against a Brentford side who have pulled away from relegation trouble.
The Bees have won four of their last five games, including a 4-1 victory over Chelsea and a 2-0 success against West Ham.
Thomas Frank’s side have now won all four games that midfield maestro Christian Eriksen has started and they should have too much for a Watford team who have shown no discernible improvement under Roy Hodgson.
Ivan Toney is starting to flex his goalscoring muscles, with six in his last five games, and Brentford look a cut above the Hornets.
Key stat
No team have lost more Premier League games this season than Watford's 21.
