Match preview

The relentless Reds are showing no sign of easing up and Liverpool should march on to another three-point haul at Tottenham.

Nineteen wins in 20 league matches this season is an astonishing return from the Premier League leaders, who are unbeaten in more than a year of top-flight contests with 28 wins in their last 29 outings.

On paper a trip to Tottenham - the opponents Liverpool overcame in Madrid to become European champions in June - is one of the most difficult remaining fixtures for Jurgen Klopp's bid for an invincible season, however, the reality could be different.

Tottenham have lost their manager after a poor start to the campaign and are deprived of key players through injuries.

Now it looks like they have lost their identity too and Jose Mourinho is probably only just beginning to realise the difficulty he faces in replacing Mauricio Pochettino.

In years gone by he would surely have fancied a trademark Mourinho masterclass in tactical organisation and tried to frustrate the life out of Liverpool's slick attacking players.

He praised Manchester United's low-block gameplan in their 1-1 draw with Liverpool - the only league game the Merseysiders have failed to win this season - but Tottenham don't seem to possess the players to carry out similar spoiling tactics.

They were built to attack under Pochettino and Mourinho's only clean sheet came in a 5-0 romp over Burnley.

Crucially they have conceded first in each of their last five matches and another slow start could be decisive against the marauding Reds, who will fancy their chances of taking apart a host team missing Hugo Lloris, Moussa Sissoko and Harry Kane.

Bayern Munich put seven past Spurs, while Chelsea were easy 2-0 winners at White Hart Lane and Liverpool are better than both of those by a considerable distance.

Their 30-year wait for a title will surely come to an end this season with a 12th straight league win likely against the opponents they beat in the first game of that run.

Liverpool won the reverse fixture 2-1 and fired 13 shots at Paulo Gazzaniga's goal. Since then they have also tightened up defensively with five consecutive Premier League clean sheets.

Dejan Lovren partnered Virgil van Dijk in the clash between the sides at Anfield and Joel Matip did likewise in the Champions League final, however, it's currently Joe Gomez alongside the imperious Dutchman and that could turn out to be Klopp's best duo.

There's no disputing Klopp's premier forward line - Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane either side of Roberto Firmino - and all three have enjoyed success when facing Spurs.

Salah has five goals in his last five games against Tottenham, Roberto Firmino scored in both league meetings last term and Mane won decisive penalties in each of their last two fixtures.

Key stat

Tottenham have kept only two Premier League clean sheets this season.
