Match preview
Tottenham's double act of Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane were the heroes of their 3-2 victory at home to Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday and both could continue their scoring sprees when Spurs take on Everton in north London.
Having taking a big step towards Champions League knockout stage qualification, Tottenham's focus is to stay in touch near the top of the Premier League.
The Londoners are not receiving much attention in the title conversation but they are consistent under Antonio Conte, losing just one of their last 15 Premier League games, and they have the opportunity to move to within a point of leaders Arsenal, who are in action at Leeds on Sunday.
Spurs made early progress this season despite a dip in performance from Son, who failed to score in eight appearances.
But Son's confidence came flooding back with a superb 14-minute hat-trick in the 6-2 success at home to Leicester, and the South Korean was at his brilliant best against Frankfurt, scoring the first and third of Tottenham's goals.
Son's movement and finishing against Frankfurt were of the highest standard but his performance will not have surprised Conte, who knows how to get the best out of him.
Conte has taken charge of 18 Premier League home games for Tottenham and 11 of them have featured at least one goal for Son.
Given Son's sky-high confidence he looks a great bet to score against Everton, who were handed a reality check when losing 2-1 at home to Manchester United last Sunday.
Everton went into the United game following a seven-match unbeaten run and soon hit the front with a superb strike from Alex Iwobi.
At that point a United team unsettled by the previous weekend's 6-3 capitulation at Manchester City should have been there for the taking.
But Everton sat back on their lead and their sloppy play gifted opportunities to United, who ran out worthy winners.
The loss leaves Everton four points above the relegation zone and the situation could soon get worse because the daunting trip to Tottenham precedes next Wednesday's tough assignment at Newcastle.
Frank Lampard has got his players fighting for the cause but there is a glaring lack of quality and an over-reliance on injury-prone striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who featured for the first time this season last weekend.
Everton have improved defensively and can expect to avoid a repeat of last season's 5-0 hammering at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
However, they are up against one of the best strike partnerships in Premier League history and may struggle to prevent either Kane or Son from having an impact on the game.
