Team news
Tottenham
Steven Bergwijn and Ryan Sessegnon remain sidelined. Ben Davies missed Thursday's Europa Conference League contest against Mura with suspected appendicitis.
Aston Villa
Leon Bailey and Morgan Sanson remain out injured.
Match preview
Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo has gone from winning August's Manager of the Month award to losing all three league games in September and begins October with a tricky test against Aston Villa.
Villa have also blown hot and cold this season but have enjoyed wins to nil against Everton and Manchester United recently and in Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins have a dangerous attacking duo who can pose Spurs problems.
Given both teams inconsistencies, punters may be better served backing both sides to score at a shade of odds-on rather than getting involved in the 90-minute markets.
Tottenham have conceded nine goals in their six league games this term but Harry Kane found his shooting boots with a hat-trick against Slovenians Mura on Thursday.
Villa, meanwhile, have conceded more than a goal per game on average in the Premier League and goals look likely in north London.
Key stat
Tottenham have conceded in each of their last six matches in all competitions.
