Match preview

Southampton have not allowed their defeat to Manchester United to get them down, bouncing back with a victory over Brighton last weekend, and they can stay in the race for European football by beating basement boys Sheffield United.

Chris Wilder's men are the only Premier League side without a win this term, losing ten and drawing one of their 11 assignments.

They are six points off safety but that has largely been due to a dearth of goals - they have struck only five times - than a poor defence.

That enhances appeal about backing a low-scoring win for the Saints, who are expected to welcome sharp-shooter Danny Ings back to the starting line-up but have also looked strong defensively.

Four of their last six wins have been to nil and they can take all three points at St Mary's.

Key stat

Eight of Sheffield United's ten league defeats this term have been by a single-goal margin.
