Team news
Southampton
Long-term absentees Romeo Lavia and Valentino Livramento remain the only injury concerns for the Saints.
Everton
Ben Godfrey, Andros Townsend, Nathan Patterson, Mason Holgate and Yerry Mina are injured while Dominic Calvert-Lewin faces a late fitness test. Jordan Pickford is fit following a thigh injury.
Match preview
Everton were finally rewarded with their first win of the season against West Ham in the final game before the international break, snapping a run of four draws on the spin.
But normal service may be resumed when they visit Southampton given the Toffees’ poor record away from home. Frank Lampard’s men have won just two of their last 22 league games on the road.
Southampton surrendered to a pair of 1-0 defeats to Wolves and Aston Villa before the break, failing to build on their 2-1 victory over Chelsea.
Goals have been an issue for both teams, who have scored just 13 times between them in their 14 matches this season.
Although the visitors arrive in better form, their poor record away from home means it’s hard to have confidence in them getting a win and another stalemate is the pick.
