Match preview
Chelsea’s hopes of retaining the Champions League were dealt a hammer blow by Real Madrid in midweek, capping off a disappointing few days for the Blues, who were beaten 4-1 by Brentford last Saturday.
Thomas Tuchel’s side will be hoping to bounce back against a Southampton outfit enduring a rough patch of their own, having lost four of their last five games in all competitions.
Tuchel was downbeat after Chelsea's defeat to Real, saying that if his side repeated that performance at St Mary's then they would again lose.
However, some improvement from Chelsea seems likely given the talent in their ranks and the fact that the Blues had won ten of their 11 games prior to the Brentford clash.
Southampton have netted in 17 of their last 18 matches so should test a Chelsea backline who have looked vulnerable of late.
Both teams have found the net in the Saints’ last four matches and that trend is fancied to continue.

Southampton have scored in 17 of their last 18 games.
