Saturday's preview
The faith in youth that has typified Mikel Arteta’s reign at Arsenal appears to be paying dividends with the Gunners top of the Premier League as they prepare to face rivals Tottenham.
While young talents such as Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Martin Odegaard have been praised this season, Gabriel Martinelli has quietly become one of the most influential pieces of this Arsenal side.
The Brazilian has already scored three times this season and was denied another at Old Trafford by a VAR decision.
The left-sided forward also has the second-most expected assists in the Premier League this year with an average of 1.9. Despite that, Martinelli is yet to register an assist and it's probably time one of his teammates finished off the chances he creates.
The 13-10 about Martinelli registering an assist or scoring is of plenty of interest.
One area where Arsenal will have to be wary of Tottenham is counter attacks. Spurs specialise in those situations and the Gunners looked vulnerable from in their defeat to Manchester United.
As a result Granit Xhaka may be forced into tactical fouls if Tottenham manage to hit the hosts on the counter. The Swiss midfielder has been booked in seven of his last nine North London derbies and the 17-10 about him being shown a card in this game is worth taking.
Another midfielder who could fall foul of the referee is Brighton’s Moises Caicedo. The 20-year-old ranks sixth in the Premier League this season for fouls, giving away 15, and is the highest player on that list yet to receive a caution this season.
The Ecuadorian was booked twice in eight games last season and his combative style means that 11-2 is too big for him to pick up his first card of the campaign against Liverpool.
Ivan Toney was called up to his first international squad last week but did not feature in either of England’s games and will be keen to keep himself in Gareth Southgate’s thoughts before the World Cup.
The Brentford striker has already scored five times this season and is fancied for another against a Bournemouth defence who have conceded 19 goals, the second-most in the league.
