Only leaders Liverpool have lost fewer Premier League games this season than Wolves, who can extend their unbeaten league run to 11 by winning at the Amex.

Wolves arrive in Brighton fresh from an excellent 2-0 win over West Ham, which was secured 24 hours before Albion notched up a magnificent 2-1 success at Arsenal.

Nuno Espirito Santo rewarded his team with a rare Thursday off, something of a novelty for a team who have spent the autumn competing in the Europa League.

That extra 24 hours of rest in the midst of such a hectic schedule could be a big help to Wolves.

Having said that, the workload doesn’t seem to have unduly affected them. They have been busy but they have booked themselves a place in the last 32 of the Europa League while carving out an impressive sequence of league results which sees them hanging on to the coat-tails of the top four.

Their only defeat in 16 games was a League Cup tie at Aston Villa, the one occasion when Wolves were some way from full-strength.

So they are going to be in high spirits heading to Falmer to take on a Brighton side whose overall figures aren’t as impressive but are also buzzing after that outstanding triumph at the Emirates.

It has been a slog for the Seagulls over the last few weeks in which they have suffered luckless losses at Manchester United and Liverpool either side of a 2-0 home defeat by Leicester.

The threat of no points from 12 could have seen Graham Potter’s team retreat into their shell at Arsenal but that’s not their style and they were rewarded with an excellent win. Against that, however, Arsenal were dire.

Arsenal and Brighton were two wide-open teams who indulged in a game of Sunday morning football where possession was tossed away repeatedly and the game flowed from end to end. Brighton were better at it.

Wolves, however, possess a steel, a shape and a discipline that Arsenal fans can only dream of and Albion won’t be able to pick them off in quite the same way. Going the other way, however, Wolves will revel in the space they are offered to attack on the counter. It’s how they have been playing all season long – with limited risk and deadly when they get a chance to break out.

The Premier League this season is averaging 2.9 goals per match so you don’t often see 4-6 quotes for under 2.5 goals. History has a part to play in that with 13 of the last 14 meetings between these sides producing two or fewer goals and Wolves twice failed to find the net against Brighton last season.

But that was Chris Hughton’s blue-collar side. Potter’s team will give opponents chances and Wolves are more than good enough to take one or two.
