Norwich v Leicester match preview

Norwich need to string together a few wins to have any hope of staying up but they can add another point to their total by holding Leicester to a draw at Carrow Road.

With 11 games to go Norwich are in a desperate position, six points worse off than second-bottom Watford and seven adrift of safety.

However, Daniel Farke's side still have to play three of the bottom six and might just need one unexpected victory to give them a glimmer of hope.

Norwich have put in some decent performances against the top teams, including December's clash at Leicester when they registered a well-deserved 1-1 draw.

Over the course of the season Leicester have been by far the stronger side and arrive in Norfolk with 50 points – 32 more than their beleaguered hosts.

But Leicester have gone through a dip, winning just two of their last nine matches, and are not playing well enough to fully trust at odds-on.

Jamie Vardy has not scored in his last nine appearances and the Foxes could be without key midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who has missed the last three games with a knee injury.

Leicester played well enough without Ndidi in last Saturday's 1-0 loss at home to Manchester City but are generally much stronger when the Nigerian is on duty.

In 21 league games with Ndidi they have collected 45 points at an average of 2.14 per game. In the six games without him, they have mustered just five points at an average of 0.83.

Norwich have injury problems with key trio Sam Byram, Christoph Zimmermann and Onel Hernandez unavailable, and are suffering from a general lack of confidence.

They started brightly at Wolves last Sunday but conceded a goal from the opposition's first shot on target and suffered a dispiriting 3-0 defeat.

However, they have been more competitive at Carrow Road and had gone three home matches unbeaten before a 1-0 loss to Liverpool 13 days ago.

In each of the six home games preceding the Liverpool game, the Canaries had scored the first goal.

They will be targeting another fast start and if they can get their noses in front, as they did at the King Power Stadium two-and-a-half months ago, they will have a good chance of taking at least a point.

Leicester have scored more than one goal just twice in their last nine matches and have not achieved the feat on their travels since a 3-0 success at Newcastle on New Year's Day.

Key stat

Jamie Vardy has not scored in any of his last nine appearances.
