No sign of rampant City slowing down

The Premier League's great entertainers are showing no sign yet of slowing down and Manchester City can once again put on an attacking masterclass against Arsenal at the Etihad.

City, five points clear at the top of the Premier League, are producing numbers akin to those produced by Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in their pomp and rarely seen in English football, which is seen by many as Europe's most competitive league.

Pep Guardiola's side have won nine of their ten matches and dominated the 1-1 draw with Everton despite Kyle Walker's first-half red card. They have conceded only six goals and scored 35 giving them a goal difference of plus 29.

If City continue at this rate they will amass 133 top-flight goals which would smash Chelsea's Premier League record of 103.

City are claiming their League Cup penalty shootout success as a victory - 90-minutes punters would disagree - which makes it 14 wins in a row and a new club record.

Arsenal look likely to be the latest team to fail to contain a side who scored four times at Serie A leaders Napoli on Wednesday.

Sergio Aguero broke City's all-time goalscoring record in Naples but he is far from the only threat with Raheem Sterling in the form of his life, Kevin De Bruyne pulling the strings and Gabriel Jesus nicely rested after a late cameo when replacing Leroy Sane in midweek.

David Silva and Kyle Walker were also substitutes in the Champions League clash as Guardiola highlighted the power of his squad and Arsenal fully deserve to be considered big outsiders for this daunting trip.

Arsene Wenger showed his team are capable of digging in with a 0-0 draw at Chelsea but they were also hammered 4-0 at Liverpool and City play a similar style to the Merseysiders - they just do it better.

The one glimmer of hope for Wenger is that City have started leaking goals since the end of September with their six league and European matches resulting in just one clean sheet against Burnley.

Stoke scored twice at the Etihad (they also conceded seven), while even West Brom bagged a couple at the Hawthorns in a 3-2 defeat so there is a hint of encouragement for a dangerous front three of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette to play their part in what should be a fantastic, high-scoring home triumph.
