Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Tottenham after 17 months in charge of the club and Julian Nagelsmann is favourite to replace him in north London.

Betfair and Paddy Power have Nagelsmann as their 7-2 market leader with Leicester's Brendan Rodgers at 8-1.

Nagelsmann, 33, is seen by many as Europe's brightest young managerial mind, but Leipzig are loath to lose him and another issue would be the presence of Bayern Munich being in the hunt for a new head coach.

Bayern are set to wave goodbye to their manager Hansi Flick at the end of the current campaign and Bavarian-born Nagelsmann is seen as an obvious candidate to take over at the Allianz Arena should a vacancy arise this summer.

Rodgers, who guided Leicester to the FA Cup final on Sunday, is an intriguing candidate. He would presumably tick a lot of boxes for Tottenham in terms of their next step, but Rodgers is under contract at Leicester until 2025 and could possibly see the Spurs job as a sideways step anyway.

Former Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker is 14-1 with Coral and Ladbrokes, while Hills have Nuno at the same price and Max Allegri comes next in the betting at 16-1.

The highly-respected former Juventus boss is out of work and has been learning English in preparation for a Premier League job.

Jurgen Klinsmann, who played for Tottenham in two different spells, has been slashed to 10-3 from 50-1 by Betfair, however, he is still rated a 33-1 shot by Betfred.

Tottenham host Southampton on Wednesday before tackling Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday. Ryan Mason took first-team training on Monday and is 20-1 to be the next permanent manager.
