Match preview

Liverpool flexed their attacking muscle to put five past Chelsea on Wednesday evening and it will be surprising if the newly-crowned Premier League champions are unable to see off Newcastle.

The Reds have enjoyed a near-perfect campaign and, while they are destined to fall at least one short of Manchester City's record points total of 100, Jurgen Klopp's men should expect to finish in style.

Liverpool won 18 of their 19 Premier League matches at Anfield this season and, while they have been less productive on the road, dropping just 13 points away from home is no mean feat and they have an identical defensive record with 16 goals conceded at home and away.

Steve Bruce has done a decent job in steering Newcastle clear of trouble but the Magpies have been anything but entertaining, scoring just 19 goals at St James' Park - the joint-third lowest total in the Premier League.

They have some semblance of attacking flair courtesy of Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron but they are desperately short of end product and unlikely to seriously trouble Liverpool as a result.

The Reds, on the other hand, can call on the stellar front three of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah which has underpinned their success under Klopp.

Klopp has stronger reserves to call on in the late stages of the contest if Liverpool are struggling and, with Newcastle looking increasingly blunt and finishing the season with a whimper, it's worth expecting a comfortable win for the visitors.

Key stat

Newcastle have picked up just two points from their last five matches.
