Team news

Newcastle
Alexander Isak, Allan Saint-Maximin, Matt Ritchie, Karl Darlow and Emil Krafth are all sidelined for the Magpies.

Everton
The Toffees will be missing Ben Godfrey, Andros Townsend, Yerry Mina and Nathan Patterson. But Anthony Gordon is back from suspension and Mason Holgate should be in the squad.

Match preview

Newcastle are missing key forwards Alexander Isak and Allan Saint-Maximin for the visit of Everton on Wednesday but the in-form Magpies have enough quality in their ranks to grind out a win against the Toffees at St James' Park.

Eddie Howe's men remain in the mix for the European places in the Premier League after holding Manchester United to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Before that match, they blew apart Brentford 5-1 and Fulham 4-1 and are on a five-game unbeaten streak in the top flight.

Everton have suffered back-to-back defeats and picked up only two wins in the Premier League this season.

That said, Frank Lampard's side have been fairly resolute at the back, shipping only 11 goals in ten matches, and they shouldn't be rolled over by the Magpies, who can triumph in a match with under 3.5 goals.

Key stat

All ten of Everton's Premier League matches this season have yielded under 3.5 goals.
