Team news
Newcastle
Jonjo Shelvey, Callum Wilson, Emil Krafth are out while Allan Saint-Maximin and Bruno Guimaraes are major doubts. Jamaal Lascelles and Alexander Isak are expected to recover from knocks, though.
Crystal Palace
Long-term absentees Nathan Ferguson, Jack Butland, James McArthur and James Tomkins remain sidelined and Will Hughes faces a late fitness test.
Match preview
Both Newcastle and Crystal Palace were pegged back after taking the lead in midweek, with the Eagles having to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to Brentford and the Magpies falling to a controversial 98th-minute Liverpool winner at Anfield.
Eddie Howe’s side competed admirably on Merseyside despite a number of absentees, and they will once again be without Allan Saint-Maximin, Callum Wilson and Jonjo Shelvey while key midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is a doubt.
New signing Alexander Isak hit the ground running with a debut goal at Anfield and will be expected to lead from the front again given the injuries to Newcastle's other attacking options.
Wilfried Zaha was on the mark again for Palace against Brentford in midweek, taking his tally to four goals in as many league games this term.
Matches between these two sides have tended to be low-scoring affairs and, after competitive midweek encounters, another cagey clash may be on the cards.
