Team news
Manchester City
Sergio Aguero, Fernandinho and Benjamin Mendy should be in the squad but Nathan Ake is injured.
Burnley
Goalkeeper Nick Pope is sidelined. Robbie Brady and Dale Stephens are doubtful with hamstring injuries and Jack Cork remains sidelined. Johann Berg Gudmundsson came off as a precaution against Crystal Palace but should be fit enough to start.
Match preview
Burnley's last five visits to Manchester City have ended 5-0, 5-0, 5-0, 4-1 and 3-0 to the hosts but Sean Dyche's men may be able to keep the scoreline more respectable on Saturday.
That prediction owes less to Burnley's form – Monday's 1-0 home win over Crystal Palace was their first Premier League victory of the season – than it does to City's uncharacteristic struggles in front of goal.
After their first eight games of the last three league campaigns, Pep Guardiola's men had scored 27, 21 and 29 goals. This time their tally is just ten and all six of their games since September's shock 5-2 home defeat to Leicester have ended with under 2.5 goals.
There is certainly no lack of attacking intent from City, who racked up 22 shots to Tottenham's four last weekend yet still ended up losing 2-0 in north London.
It was a similar story in the Champions League on Wednesday night when Phil Foden scored the only goal of the game away to Olympiakos despite City dominating the shot count 22-2.
Injuries to the club's record goalscorer Sergio Aguero and Brazil international Gabriel Jesus have left the Citizens without a recognised striker at times this season but their lack of end product is still a surprise given the attacking quality in their squad.
Burnley know all about problems in front of goal, having failed to score in six of their seven league and cup games going into this week's clash with Palace.
Chris Wood, whose goals fired the Clarets to a top-half finish in the league last season, took advantage of an early Palace error to score Burnley's first home goal of the season and Dyche's men clung on for a vital victory.
But Burnley managed one shot on target fewer than an Eagles side missing key forward Wilfried Zaha and they are unlikely to encourage an expansive contest at the Etihad.
Their last two away games in the league finished goalless at West Brom and Brighton while they failed to notch in home defeats to Southampton (0-1), Tottenham (0-1) and Chelsea (0-3).
The Citizens' last two league wins were both by a 1-0 margin, against Arsenal and Sheffield United, while backing a City win and under 3.5 goals would have copped in three of their four Champions League group games as well as September's 3-0 EFL Cup win away to Burnley.
Key stat
Manchester City's last six Premier League games have all featured under 2.5 goals.
