Team news
Manchester City
Jack Grealish and Phil Foden were dropped for off-the-field matters against Newcastle and could be kept on the bench. Kyle Walker hasn't featured since he was sent off against RB Leipzig while Ferran Torres is still injured.
Leicester
Jonny Evans, Jamie Vardy and Caglar Soyuncu are in line for late fitness tests. Ricardo Pereira and Hamza Choudry are also doubts while Harvey Barnes, Wesley Fofana, Daniel Amartey and James Justin are all definite absentees.
Match preview
Only Liverpool's games have seen more goalmouth action than Leicester this season and the Foxes can play their part in another high-scoring encounter when they visit Manchester City.
The Citizens are going for their ninth win in a row, having dismantled Leeds and Newcastle 7-0 and 4-0 in their last two games.
After Chelsea and Liverpool dropped points last weekend, Pep Guardiola’s men sat at the top of the tree on Christmas Day. To add to the good news for the champions, they have an almost clean bill of health, in contrast with the majority of the rest of the league.
Leicester are one of those teams with a number of injuries and Covid concerns. The Foxes were beaten on penalties by Liverpool in the EFL Cup in midweek and picked up a number of knocks along the way.
However before that they were convincing 4-0 winners over Newcastle and as a result have scored 19 goals in their last seven games in all competitions.
Jamie Vardy fired a hat-trick as Brendan Rodgers' side were 5-2 winners in this fixture last year and could lead the line again here after he netted twice against Liverpool in midweek.
Leicester have scored in 22 of their 26 games this season and have the attacking talent to worry Guardiola’s side more than their recent opponents could.
Despite their threat going forward, Leicester’s defensive issues mean that the Citizens look likely to make it nine wins in a row. The Foxes have conceded the most goals in the top half of the table and could be in for a long Boxing Day afternoon.
