Match preview

Liverpool are odds-on to win their clash of the titans against Tottenham but manager Jurgen Klopp certainly doesn't regard his side as home bankers.

Klopp was full of praise for Spurs in his pre-match press conference, hailing the quality of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son as well as Steven Bergwijn, Tanguy Ndombele and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, and describing the visitors as "a proper team".

Both clubs have claimed 25 points from their first 12 Premier League fixtures and Spurs, who have the best defensive record in the top flight, are above the champions on goal difference.

Factor in Liverpool's injury list and Tottenham's superb league form since their opening defeat to Everton and a case can be made for Jose Mourinho's men, who are 12-5 draw no bet with Betfred.

Spurs have won seven and drawn four of their last 11 league matches and their record would have been even better but for a hotly-disputed penalty that gave Newcastle an injury-time equaliser and a remarkable collapse against West Ham when they blew a 3-0 lead in the last ten minutes.

On the other hand, Tottenham have lost their last five meetings with Liverpool in the past two seasons, suffering four Premier League defeats by a one-goal margin and losing 2-0 in the Champions League final in June 2019.

And despite Liverpool's lengthy list of absentees, they have won six out of six in the league at Anfield, swatting aside in-form Leicester 3-0 and Wolves 4-0 in their last two fixtures.

Spurs drew 1-1 at Crystal Palace at the weekend but Liverpool also dropped points at Fulham where the Cottagers caused plenty of problems for Klopp's depleted defence.

With Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez sidelined and Joel Matip suffering back spasms, Jordan Henderson ended up at centre-back alongside Fabinho at Craven Cottage – hardly the ideal preparation for a game against Tottenham's in-form forwards Kane and Son.

The pair have combined to rip apart Southampton 5-2 and Manchester United 6-1 away from home this season while both were on the scoresheet in Tottenham's 2-0 derby win over Arsenal.

The first-goalscorer market is a high-quality heat with Mohamed Salah 7-2, Sadio Mane 4-1 and Kane 11-2 but the irrepressible Son is a tempting each-way bet.

The South Korean has relished his role as chief counter-attacking threat this season, scoring nine of his 13 goals away from home, and he cannot be accused of being a flat-track bully.

Son notched twice at Old Trafford and has opened the scoring in four of Tottenham's last eight league games including the wins over Manchester City and Arsenal.

Key stat

Tottenham have conceded only two goals in their last seven Premier League matches.
