Liverpool to win
Liverpool have won six of their last eight Premier League home games against Manchester City and will be eager to atone for last season's 4-1 loss at Anfield to the Citizens which took place in the absence of supporters.
The backing of a capacity crowd should improve Liverpool's chances and help them play to a high enough intensity to cause City problems.
City played to a high level at Chelsea (winning 1-0) and Paris St-Germain (losing 2-0) but they face a third tough away game in nine days and could fall below their usual standards.
Under 3.5 goals
City were rampant at Anfield last season but the teams are very well matched and there could be plenty of respect on show with both likely to be mindful of staying solid at the back.
Liverpool had kept four clean sheets in five Premier League games before last Saturday's 3-3 draw at Brentford and City have not conceded a league goal since a 1-0 loss at Tottenham on the opening weekend of the season.
There is a wealth of attacking talent on show but clear cut chances could be at a premium.
Mohamed Salah to score
It might take a moment of individual brilliance to settle the game and Mohamed Salah looks as likely as anyone to deliver it.
The fleet-footed Egyptian should be bursting with confidence after netting seven goals in his last six appearances.
