Adam Lallana and Enock Mwepu are unlikely to feature. Tariq Lamptey is a doubt and Jakub Moder is a long-term absentee.
Match preview
It is the dawn of a new era at Brighton as Roberto De Zerbi takes the helm but he should be delighted with the situation he has inherited.
The new Seagulls boss takes his team to Liverpool, who are four points behind them in the table, and his team have conceded fewer goals than any other Premier League outfit.
Jurgen Klopp's side are, of course, likely to test them severely and the Reds' run of 26 unbeaten home league matches goes a long way towards explaining why they are such a short price for victory.
However, they have not looked as assured in defence this term and Brighton's record of one defeat in their last 11 league matches deserves respect.
The Seagulls have scored in eight of their last nine top-flight games on the road and they should go all out to impress the new man in the hotseat.
Key stat
Liverpool have conceded the first goal in four of their six Premier League matches this season.
