Team news

Leeds
It will be months before there’s a return for Stuart Dallas, while Junior Firpo, Adam Forshaw, Luke Ayling and Luis Sinisterra could also miss out. Liam Cooper has an Achilles issue while Dan James is suspended.

Wolves
Raul Jimenez, Nelson Semedo and Adama Traore are all expected to miss out for the visitors while Portuguese winger Chiquinho is a long-term absentee. Morgan Gibbs-White is expected to play despite uncertainty over his and Conor Coady's futures.

Match preview

Key injuries and suspensions mean Leeds and Wolves are embarking on the new season looking severely depleted, and that may enhance the chances of a low-scoring opener at Elland Road.

Games short on goals are something Wolves supporters have been accustomed to as only 14 of their 38 games last season rewarded backers of over 2.5 goals.

Despite finishing tenth in the Premier League, Wolves managed just 38 goals in as many games. Only relegated sides Burnley, Watford and Norwich scored fewer.

Throw in injuries to the focal point of their attack Raul Jimenez and powerful winger Adama Traore, and it's clear they are lacking firepower for their visit to Yorkshire.

The problem for Leeds, however, is that Wolves are extremely gritty and appear to have mastered the art of grinding out results, highlighted by the fact that they conceded only 43 goals last term.

With Leeds also nursing a few knocks and having seen big changes to their squad over the summer, they may too have to settle for a slow-burner.
