Team news

Leeds
Liam Cooper has recovered from illness and could feature. Rodrigo and Pablo Hernandez are fit again but this match may come too soon for them to start while Adam Forshaw is out and Marcelo Bielsa is not sure if Mateusz Klich will feature. John Egan might be fit.

Sheffield United
The Blades are set to be without Sander Berge, Jack O'Connell, Jack Robinson, Chris Basham and Jack Rodwell. Billy Sharp is a doubt.

Match preview

There is little for Leeds to play for in the Premier League this season but with a challenging set of fixtures on the horizon Marcelo Bielsa's men will recognise the importance of beating basement boys Sheffield United at Elland Road.

The Yorkshire outfit are all but guaranteed another season in the top flight and are unlikely to push for European qualification this term.

But their next three games after this contest are against Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United so they will be eager for points and they have the attacking prowess to overcome the Blades.

Sheffield United are likely to be missing key defenders Jack O'Connell, Chris Basham and Jack Robinson once again and they did not give a good account of themselves in caretaker-manager Paul Heckingbottom's first league game in charge, losing 5-0 to Leicester.

Leeds, meanwhile, overcame another relegation-threatened side in Fulham before the international break and look a good bet to win.

But it is hard to ignore the fact Bielsa's men have the fifth-worst defensive record in the division, conceding 1.62 goals per game.

No goalkeeper has made more saves than Leeds's Ilan Meslier in Europe's top five leagues heading into this weekend's games, highlighting just how fragile the club can be at the back.

With that in mind and, given Leeds could be particularly vulnerable to Sheffield United's aerial threat, the Blades, who are set to play Championship football next season, could operate on the front foot more and grab a consolation goal.

Key stat

Sheffield United's George Baldock has been booked in four of his five starts against Leeds.
