Team news

Leeds
Defenders Gaetano Berardi, Robin Koch and Diego Llorente are sidelined along with midfielder Adam Forshaw.

Newcastle
Jamaal Lascelles and Allan Saint-Maximin are likely to miss out again but Federico Fernandez and Ryan Fraser return. Striker Dwight Gayle is pushing for a start in place of Joelinton.

Match preview

Steve Bruce's Newcastle side arrive at Elland Road seeking a third straight Premier League victory after a 2-0 win at Crystal Palace and a 2-1 success at home to West Brom on Saturday.

Those bare scorelines do not tell the full dramatic story of the Magpies' last three weeks, however, as they scored twice in the last three minutes at Selhurst Park before a home fixture against Aston Villa was postponed due to a coronavirus outbreak in the Newcastle camp.

Bruce was enormously proud of the resilience shown by his squad against West Brom, when Dwight Gayle came off the bench to score an 82-minute winner, and the visitors are unlikely to roll over at Leeds.

Gayle's late strike means that eight of Newcastle's 14 league goals have come in the last 15 minutes of matches, testament to the spirit and fitness of Bruce's players.

Callum Wilson, with seven goals in ten starts since arriving from Bournemouth, has provided the cutting edge they lacked last season and they are a tough nut to crack away from home, drawing at Wolves and Tottenham and beating Palace and West Ham.

Leeds are easy to swerve at odds-on given that they have won only one of their six home games this term – a 4-3 victory over fellow promoted club Fulham.

They conceded twice from set pieces in Friday's 2-1 defeat to West Ham and Newcastle can trouble a home defence missing injured Germany and Spain internationals Robin Koch and Diego Llorente.

Key stat

Newcastle have conceded only four goals in their last six Premier League away matches.
