The ante-post betting suggested Fulham would be Premier League relegation candidates while Newcastle were expected to threaten the top six but after seven games the Cottagers are three points clear of the Magpies.

Eddie Howe's Newcastle have not won since their opening-day victory over promoted Nottingham Forest although that run includes a 3-3 draw with Manchester City and a 2-1 defeat at Liverpool, who scored a 97th-minute winner.

The visitors are favourites at Craven Cottage despite a lengthy list of absentees including strikers Alexander Isak and Chris Wood and they face a Fulham side who are brimming with confidence at home.

Marco Silva's men drew 2-2 with Liverpool on the opening weekend before beating Brentford 3-2 and Brighton 2-1. They won 3-2 at Forest before the international break and over 2.5 goals may well land for the seventh time in eight league games for the Cottagers this term.
