Team news
Everton
The Toffees will be without Richarlison, who is sidelined as a result of concussion protocols, while this game also comes too soon for James Rodriguez, Allan, Lucas Digne and Fabian Delph.
Man City
Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker are self-isolating after positive coronavirus tests while Ilkay Gundogan will be assessed and Eric Garcia is missing.
Match preview
Everton face their fourth match in ten days as they host Manhcester City but the Toffees have coped well with the packed schedule and could pull off a shock result in their final game of 2020.
Carlo Ancelotti's men have shown superb versatility to win their last four Premier League fixtures against Chelsea, Leicester City, Arsenal and Sheffield United while missing key players.
Midfield virtuoso James Rodriguez has been a long-term absentee for Everton, who have also been operating with a back four comprised of centre backs in recent weeks but they have nonetheless reignited their push for a European berth.
They were also missing Brazilian forward Richarlison for their 1-0 win over Sheffield United but showed they have the grit and physicality to edge tight contests as well as the flair to blow away teams.
That should do them plenty of favours as they prepare to host a City outfit who are on a great run but have been struggling for goals in 2020-21.
Sergio Aguero has missed most of the season and Man City have managed only 21 goals in their 14 league fixtures - fewer than Leeds, West Ham, Southampton or Aston Villa.
Instead of ripping teams apart as has been the case in previous seasons, Pep Guardiola's men have been grinding out low-scoring successes and are unbeaten in their last six Premier League fixtures.
But their fixture list has featured the likes of Burnley, Fulham, West Brom and Newcastle recently and the Manchester side have struggled against the division's big guns this term.
They were held to a 0-0 draw in a tepid Manchester Derby and have suffered league defeats to Leicester (5-2) and Tottenham (2-0) this campaign.
And a rejuvenated Everton side have the makings of another potential banana skin.
Even with fans missing from the stands for most of the season, Everton have made Goodison Park a tough venue to visit. Only Liverpool, Chelsea and City themselves have collected more home points in 2020-21 than the Merseysiders.
Ancelotti is one of the few managers to have won more matches than he has lost against Guardiola and although there is little rotation he can do before this match, the veteran Italian can keep spirits high in the Everton camp.
At odds-against, they look an excellent bet to avoid defeat against a Man City side who still do not look entirely convincing in the Premier League this season.
Key stat
Man City have managed only seven goals in their seven away league games this season.
