Team news

Everton
Vitalii Mykolenko could be available after missing the loss at Newcastle with Covid. Yerry Mina and Demarai Gray are both out, and will join Ben Godfrey, Tom Davies, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Fabian Delph in sitting out the game.

Leeds
Leeds have no fresh injury concerns with Mateusz Klich expected to be fit despite failing to finish the Aston Villa game. Patrick Bamford, Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper and Junior Firpo remain sidelined.

Match preview

Frank Lampard won’t find a quick fix to Everton’s defensive issues and attack could be the best form of defence for the visit of an equally fragile Leeds side.

Lampard received a rude awakening as to just how hard changing the Toffees’ fortunes is going to be with the mid-week loss at Newcastle and their tally of 19 points is Everton’s lowest after 21 games of a Premier League season.

Picking up points at home will be vital to avoiding a relegation fight and the visit of a frisky Leeds side fresh from a six-goal thriller at Villa Park is hardly the ideal fixture.

The Whites can be got at though. They have kept just one clean sheet away from home all year and are conceding over two goals per game on average.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks poised to return to the team after watching from the bench at Newcastle and he’ll boost an Everton side who netted four in Lampard’s home debut against Brentford in the FA Cup.

Key stat

Leeds have conceded at least twice in six of their last seven away matches in all competitions.
