Team news

Crystal Palace
Will Hughes is a doubt. Jack Butland, Nathaniel Clyne, James McArthur, Nathan Ferguson and Chris Richards are injured.

Southampton
Saints are likely to be without defenders Armel Bella-Kotchap, Tino Livramento and Kyle Walker-Peters. Romeo Lavia will be assessed and Ainsley Maitland-Niles is available after missing last weekend's game against his parent club Arsenal.

Match preview

After a solid start to the Premier League season, Crystal Palace suffered their most disappointing result of the campaign last weekend when they lost 3-0 to Everton at Goodison Park.

Patrick Vieira will hope for a positive reaction from his side in their home game against Southampton but a lack of ruthlessness remains a problem for the Eagles, who have won only three of their first 11 league matches.

Both teams have been hampered by injuries this season but a depleted Saints defence may be able to build on last weekend's encouraging 1-1 draw with leaders Arsenal.

They had picked up another decent point in their previous home match against West Ham and won 1-0 at Bournemouth in between those two draws, so there are signs that Ralph Hasenhuttl may have weathered yet another storm at St Mary's.

Neither side is bristling with attacking intent at the moment so the 13-5 about the draw looks appealing.

Key stat
