Match preview
Arsenal have been outstanding for large parts of this season and the Gunners can maintain their high standards by defeating Chelsea in a vital London derby at Stamford Bridge.
Intensity levels dropped when a largely second-string Arsenal side defeated FC Zurich 1-0 on Thursday, which ensured they progressed straight through to the Europa League round of 16.
But a much more focused and energised Gunners' side are likely to walk out at Stamford Bridge on Sunday as they go in search of an 11th Premier League win of the campaign.
Mikel Arteta's side have a settled and confident look about them this term which is in stark contrast to their hosts Chelsea, who look a side in transition.
Graham Potter likes his teams to be adaptable and his three-year tenure at Brighton featured regular changes of system and personnel. However, there has been an air of experimentation about some of his Chelsea team selections as he sets about discovering which players he can trust and which ones may need to be discarded.
Potter took the bold decision of deploying ultra-attacking wing-backs for last Saturday's trip to his former club with Christian Pulisic starting on the right and Raheem Sterling on the left.
But the tactic backfired spectacularly with the concession of two goals inside the first 15 minutes and there wasn't much of a response as the Blues subsided to a 4-1 defeat on the south coast.
Potter switched to a back four for Wednesday's 2-1 Champions League success at home to Dinamo Zagreb, which had little riding on it as the Blues were already assured of winning the group, but he may decide it is the best way to go against the Gunners.
Irrespective of systems, Potter will likely deploy far more natural defenders in his side than at Brighton, but Chelsea will still have their hands full against one of the most exciting attacks in the country.
Arsenal are the Premier League's second-highest scorers with 30 goals in 12 games and their attack is brimming with pace and intelligent movement.
The north Londoners have not been too badly affected by injuries this term and their midweek performance against Zurich gave a glimpse of the potential drop-off in quality when too many first-choice players are absent.
Whether the Gunners have progressed enough to give Manchester City a run for their money in the title race is open to debate. But for now they are fit, strong and full of belief and look decent value to add three more significant points to their tally at Stamford Bridge.
