"Carlo knows he needs to strengthen Everton this summer"
Kevin Campbell assesses why the Toffees are falling short of expectations
Former Everton captain Kevin Campbell admits the Toffees "are struggling" at the moment and believes their European hopes could be ended by West Ham on Sunday.
Carlo Ancelotti's side are desperate for the points to remain in the hunt, but Campbell tipped West Ham as his best bet of the weekend and says it's going to be an important summer for the Merseysiders.
Speaking on the Racing Post's YouTube show Different League in association with Betfred (video above), Campbell was disappointed with another home defeat against Aston Villa last week and said: "It's possible they will prefer to play away at the moment because the great thing about Goodison Park was the fanbase being the 12th man, but for whatever reason the momentum has gone out of Everton.
"Certain key players are not available and they look a little disjointed. Carlo will be looking at this summer and he will know he needs to strengthen the squad.
"When you bring in players like they did for this season it shines a light on the rest of the squad and the weaker areas. If Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Richarlison fail to fire then they don't score and Everton need more goals in the team.
"They should be looking for a winger and an attacking midfielder who can get goals. Gylfi Sigurdsson is a good player but I don't think he offers enough during a whole season and, while Seamus Coleman has been a great servant, they need somebody younger to get up and down the right flank.
"Everton will need to revamp because they are just struggling and I have to go for West Ham to beat them."
Campbell also discussed the fan protest at Old Trafford and explains why he did not take part in the social media blackout last week.
The ex-Arsenal hitman was also on hand to deliver his verdict on the Champions League, Europa League and the pick of this week's Premier League matches.
