Match preview

It's all about the strikers at the Amex where Tottenham, missing their captain and star goalscorer, might have to settle for a point.

Harry Kane, who has 12 goals and 11 assists this season, managed to injure both his ankles in Thursday's 3-1 loss to Liverpool which leaves them short of their world-class number nine.

Spurs can fall back on a variety of attacking alternatives, spearheaded by Heung-Min Son, who could have Gareth Bale in support, but Tottenham boast a 56 per cent win rate with Kane and only 43 per cent without him. The England skipper will be missed.

Talking of misses brings us to Brighton. Graham Potter's Seagulls have fired off more shots than Tottenham this term (and had more passes and delivered more crosses) yet find themselves in loads of bother.

They simply cannot score enough goals. Pretty as you like getting to the box, when they get inside the box their problems are evident.

Tottenham, as is Jose Mourinho's way, will happily soak up what Albion can offer and try to pick them off when chances arise.

Brighton's woes were there for all to see on Wednesday against Fulham, a 0-0 draw in which they had 16 shots and battered their basement rivals. It's why they have won only three times all season though they have only lost two of their last eight.

Draws are something of a speciality of theirs. It would be no great surprise if they chalked up their tenth of the season against Spurs.

Key stat

Brighton have drawn six of their last eight home matches.
