Team news

Brighton
Adam Webster and Lewis Dunk could come into contention while Alexis Mac Allister could make his first start since the World Cup after scoring twice in the FA Cup win over Middlesbrough.

Liverpool
Defender Virgil van Dijk is out and Darwin Nunez is a major doubt. Roberto Firmino has suffered a setback to his recovery from injury but James Milner should be available.

Match preview

If Liverpool are to finish in the top four they will have to improve their mediocre away form, but they could be vulnerable to a fifth road reverse of the campaign at Brighton.

Successive wins at Tottenham and Aston Villa pointed to a strong improvement from Jurgen Klopp's men, but they were second-best in their last game on the road at Brentford and Brighton look a big price to down the Reds at the Amex.

Roberto De Zerbi's transition into English football has been seamless and the Seagulls have already sent Chelsea packing on home soil since the Italian's arrival.

Goals have been flowing and they showed they were in no mood to sit back in the FA Cup when they thumped Middlesbrough, who have been taking the Championship by storm, 5-1 last Saturday.

With Virgil van Dijk sidelined and the Reds defence looking vulnerable against struggling Wolves in their cup tie last weekend, it could be a difficult afternoon for the Merseysiders.
