Team news
Brentford
Star striker Ivan Toney left Friday's game at the London Stadium on a stretcher but could potentially be available. The game is likely to come too early for Kristoffer Ajer and Aaron Hickey.
Liverpool
Harvey Elliott and Andy Robertson are expected to recover from knocks, while Fabinho could be back after missing the Leicester game for personal reasons.
Match preview
It would take an almighty collapse from the Premier League pacesetters to present Liverpool with a chance to win the title, but there is little doubt a push for a Champions League spot is being mounted after four straight wins for Jurgen Klopp's outfit.
The latest test for the reborn Reds comes at Brentford, and there appears to be a decent chance that the pattern of Liverpool claiming wins without keeping clean sheets could continue.
It would be easy to conclude that this is what has happened in their last four games and so it is likely to occur again, but other factors support the selection too.
The Bees have proved they are not scared of anyone, particularly when they are hosting some of the Premier League's big names, and leaders Arsenal are the only visitors to have left the Brentford Community Stadium with a full return.
But it is a big step up dealing with the Reds than it was at West Ham on Friday, where the Bees claimed a 2-0 win over a team who have scored only 13 goals this term. Prior to that, Thomas Frank's side had gone six games without keeping a clean sheet, and allowed Tottenham to grab a point after leading 2-0 on Boxing Day.
It is no surprise to see over 2.5 goals best priced at a stingy 6-10, and while victories at Tottenham and Aston Villa have given their away record a more respectable look, Liverpool have kept just one clean sheet in their last nine.
There was a time when the Reds defence seemed impregnable, but Ollie Watkins gave them plenty to think about in the 3-1 victory at Villa Park on Boxing Day and a pacy Brentford forward line could do likewise even if Ivan Toney is unavailable, which would be a huge blow.
At the other end, Darwin Nunez needs a goal but he has had 13 efforts in the two games since the World Cup and six of those have been on target, so he is getting in the right positions.
Their expected-goals figure of 2.7 at Villa Park was their biggest since the 9-0 over Bournemouth at the end of August, so maybe we are seeing Jurgen Klopp take the handbrake off after the Premier League's resumption.
There should be plenty of chances, and while Brentford's efforts this season have again been commendable – they are just five points behind Liverpool – it is the visitors who have the superior class to take them, so we could be about to witness a familiar story.

Liverpool have failed to clean a sheet in their last four league matches.
