Match preview

A second-string Arsenal side dazzled against Molde in the Europa League on Thursday but the first team have struggled for goals recently and their clash with Wolves is unlikely to be a classic.

With the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Folarin Balogun, Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson involved, Arsenal ran out 3-0 winners in Norway but they have generally looked short of ideas in the final third in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta's side were forced to play 42 long balls in their clash with Leeds last time out and lost the shot count 25-9 at Elland Road, raising questions about their quality going forward.

That was the fourth time in Arsenal's last five Premier League matches that they failed to find the net and the fact that only five Gunners players have scored in the league this term is alarming for the north London outfit.

With that in mind, they are worth swerving in the results markets against Wolves, who themselves have made something of a slow start.

Nuno Santo's men have won four, drawn two and lost three of their opening nine games and are nestled in mid-table.

And their assignments have also been short of goals this season with each of their last six games featuring under 2.5 goals.

Liverpool-bound Diogo Jota is evidently missed at Molineux while neither summer signing Fabio Silva nor key winger Adama Traore has registered a goal this season.

Wolves will be reluctant to over-commit against a Gunners side who still have plenty of pace to utilise on the counter-attack and Arsenal are not expected to rack up the goals so a bet on one or both teams not to score looks a solid selection.

Key stat

Both teams have scored in only two of Wolves' last seven Premier League fixtures.
